The State Government announced today that Lombadina Airport, in the Kimberley region, will receive $5,667 from the Regional Airports Development Scheme (RADS) to carry out vital repairs.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the funding was crucial for the airport to meet Civil Aviation Safety Authority standards.
“Lombadina Airport is the only all-weather airstrip in the Dampier Peninsula and provides access for small to medium sized aircraft, including the Royal Flying Doctor Service,” Ms MacTiernan said.
“It is essential infrastructure for the community and plays an integral role as an emergency evacuation airport for the Inpex Browse Pty Ltd off-shore drilling project.
