Airborne Research Australia

Airborne Research Australia (ARA) is Australia's National ResearchAircraft Facility located at Parafield Airport in Adelaide, South Australia. ARA was established through funding from the Commonwealth's Major National Research Facilities Program and Flinders University.

Airservices Australia

Provides air traffic control, air navigation support and aviation rescue and fire fighting services at all major Australian airports. The services are delivered by three operating groups: Air Traffic Management, Airport Services and Infrastructure Support Services.

ANCAP

ANCAP is a consumer safety initiative, that involves crash testing new model vehicles under strictly controlled conditions.

Association of Australian Ports and Marine Authorities.

AAPMA is the peak body representing the interests of member ports and marine authorities in Australia and in performing this role, seeks to strengthen the general awareness and understanding of ports and their needs amongst all facets of society - the general community, industry and decision-makers alike.

Australian Greenhouse Office

The Australian Greenhouse Office (AGO) is dedicated to cutting greenhouse gas emissions. It was established in 1998 as a separate agency within the environment portfolio to provide a whole of government approach to greenhouse matters.

Australian Maritime Safety Authority

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority is a largely self-funded government agency with the charter of enhancing efficiency in the delivery of safety and other services to the Australian maritime industry.

Australian Transport Council

The Australian Transport Council (ATC) is a Ministerial forum for Commonwealth, State and Territory consultations and advice to governments on the coordination and integration of all transport and road policy issues at a national level.

Australian Transport Safety Bureau

The bureau is an operationally independent multi-modal body as it has to independently investigate, analyse and report on transport safety. It maintains a clear organisational separation from transport regulators and other parties that may be investigated, and operates within a defined legal framework within the Commonwealth Department of Transport and Regional Services (DOTARS).

Australian Quarantine Inspection Service

The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) provides quarantine inspection services for the arrival of international passengers, cargo, mail, animals and plants or their products into Australia, and inspection and certification for a range of animal and plant products exported from Australia.

Bureau of Transport & Regional Economics

The Bureau of Transport and Regional Economics (BTRE) operates within the Department of Transport and Regional Services to provide information and analysis for the Government and the community, improving the understanding of the economic factors influencing the transport sector and regional Australia.

Civil Aviation Authority (CASA)

CASA was established as an independent statutory authority on 6 July 1995. The powers and functions of CASA are defined in Section 9 of the Civil Aviation Act 1988. CASA's primary focus is delivering aviation safety to the Australian public.

Coastal Planning and Coordination Council

The council is a statutory sub-committee of the WA Planning Commission and oversees strategic planning for Western Australia's 27,000km of coast.

Department of Environment and Conservation

The Department of Environment and Conservation was formed on 1 July 2006 from the amalgamation of the Department of Environment and the Department of Conservation and Land Management.

The new department combines the functions of the two agencies and provides leadership on key environmental and conservation issues in Western Australia, including protection, conservation, sustainable use and enjoyment of our natural environment.

Geoscience Australia

Geoscience Australia is Australia's national agency for geoscience research and geospatial information. It is located within the Industry, Tourism and Resources portfolio.

The Perth Cities project The Cities and Critical Infrastructure Project is modelling the frequency of events such as flood and earthquakes and the potential damage to Perth's buildings and infrastructure.

Tourism Western Australia has information about tourism infrastructure in the regions.

International Maritime Organisation

Provides machinery for cooperation among Governments in the field of governmental regulation and practices relating to technical matters of all kinds affecting shipping engaged in international trade, to encourage and facilitate the general adoption of the highest practicable standards in matters concerning maritime safety, efficiency of navigation and prevention and control of marine pollution from ships. The Organisation is also empowered to deal with administrative and legal matters related to these purposes.

LandCorp

LandCorp - the State Government's land and property development agency - fosters major Government land and infrastructure projects to assist the achievement of economic and social prosperity for all Western Australians.

Main Roads Western Australia

The role of Main Roads is to ensure that the ongoing public investment in road and road transport initiatives are properly planned, managed and protected.

National Transport Commission

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has responsibility for national road, rail and intermodal transport reform and commenced on 15 January 2004.

New Metrorail

As a part of the Public Transport Authority (PTA), New MetroRail is responsible for the construction of the Perth to Mandurah Railway (which includes the works through Perth City), the extension to the Northern Suburbs Railway, a spur line off the Armadale line to a new station at Thornlie and upgrades to rail services (including a new Victoria Park Station) in the Victoria Park area.

Ningaloo Coast Regional Strategy

The WAPC has prepared two documents: the Ningaloo coast regional strategy Carnarvon to Exmouth and the Ningaloo coast statement of planning policy. The regional strategy is a 30 year strategic land use plan that sets the framework of planning for sustainable tourism and land use on the Ningaloo coast. The strategy is subject to review by the commission at least every five years.

Planning and Transport Research Centre

The Planning and Transport Research Centre is a unique collaborative effort between four universities. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure is a founding sponsor and participates through the Advisory Board. The Research Centre offers high quality post-graduate education and independent research programs in transport and logistics.

Public Transport Authority

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is responsible for the following transport services: rail, bus and ferry services in the metropolitan area; public transport services in regional centres; bus and rail passenger services in regional areas; and school buses. In addition to these transport services, the PTA is responsible for designing and building transport infrastructure.
Rail Division, Western Australian Economic Regulation Authority

The Economic Regulation Authority was established on 1 January 2004 to oversee the economic regulation functions of the gas, rail, water and electricity services in Western Australia.

Administration of Western Australia's Rail Access Regime was previously the responsibility of the Office of the Rail Access Regulator.

Redevelopment Authorities

The Armadale Redevelopment Authority's purpose is the repositioning of Armadale as a vibrant, diverse and robust Strategic Regional Centre.

The East Perth Redevelopment Authority (EPRA) was established under the East Perth Redevelopment Act 1991, to undertake, promote and coordinate the redevelopment of 146 hectares of inner city land in East Perth.

Midland Redevelopment Authority manages the 256-hectare Midland redevelopment area, including the historic former Midland Railway Workshops site.

The Subiaco Redevelopment Authority was established under the Subiaco Redevelopment Act 1994 and guides one of Australia's most significant urban renewal projects, aiming to transform 80 hectares of largely derelict industrial land into a vibrant cosmopolitan community in the heart of Subiaco.

Regional Development Commissions

The Regional Development Council is the peak advisory body to Western Australia's Minister for Regional Development on all regional development issues. The Council consists of the chairpersons of the nine Regional Development Commissions, two local government representatives and a person appointed by the Minister.

Road Safety, Office of

The Office of Road Safety plays a major role in saving lives on WA roads through its co-ordination of state road safety strategy and policy, and through promotion of road safety issues.

Rockingham Development Office

In April 2003, Cabinet endorsed the formation of a Development Taskforce to assess the range and scope of projects requiring a State Government presence in the South West Corridor.
The City of Rockingham, LandCorp and the Department for Planning and Infrastructure subsequently agreed to form a project team to strengthen the partnership and effectiveness of the initiative.

Rottnest Island Boating information

Rottnest Island and its surrounding waters are an 'A' Class Reserve, managed by the Rottnest Island Authority in accordance with the Rottnest Island Regulations.The Rottnest Island Marine and Boating Guide is available from the home page.

State Administrative Tribunal

The State Administrative Tribunal reviews decisions made by State Government and local governments regarding a range of matters concerning town planning, development and resources. It is also the primary decision maker hearing cases regarding land valuation and compensation.

Sustainability Policy Unit

Website of the Sustainability Policy Unit within the Department of the Premier and Cabinet of the Western Australian Government. Sustainability is a global agenda to try to achieve economic, social and environmental goals simultaneously. This website provides an overarching perspective on sustainability in Western Australia and keeps people informed about the Western Australian Government's activities in this area.

Swan River Trust

The Swan River Trust works with Government, local government and the community to ensure that the Swan and Canning river system is conserved and managed to enhance its environmental quality and public amenity.

Transperth is the name of Perth's public transport system of buses, trains and ferries.
