Building Networks
A ‘network’ can take a number of forms: a complex system of things, or a chain of interconnected people. Indeed, a fully functioning, sustainable community is a collection of networks.
The Department is applying the term ‘building networks’ to how the agency will operate, how it will be organised and what it will produce.
The term recognises the ‘interconnectedness’ of all aspects of a community - economic, social and environmental - and the agency’s role to plan wisely for it in terms of land use and transport.
In terms of building networks of people, the agency is expected build good relationships with people who can help us do an even better job, whether it be in on an ‘operations’ basis or a ‘policy’ one: to develop contacts and working relationships in local, State and federal government, industry and the community to better its outcomes for the WA community.
