State Sustainability Strategy
The State Government's State Sustainability Strategy, which was launched in September 2003, requires agencies to address commitments and carry out actions in three areas:

  • Planning, decision-making and reporting, so that these activities are conducted in accordance with sustainability principles;
  • To ensure agency operations support sustainability; and
  • To encourage and empower public sector employees to support sustainability.

Agencies are required to develop a three-year Sustainability Action Plan by 21 December 2004. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure is developing an action plan and the implenetation of the plan will be reported on in the 2004/05 annual report
