Perth Light Rail Study

The Perth Light Rail Study has investigated the feasibility of introducing a light rail service between East Perth and Subiaco. The study concluded that such a service is feasible and would provide transport and planning benefits. However, it would require substantial changes to the streetscape and the use of inner city roads.

The report has been sent to the two local authorities involved in the study - the City of Perth and the City of Subiaco for their formal comment. The Department for Planning and Infrastructure will also be discussing the findings of the study with key stakeholders in the City.

The Department for Planning and Infrastructure is also investigating the option of a bus rapid transit system as an alternative to light rail, and options for staging the full route from East Perth to Subiaco if this were to proceed.
