Various events throughout Merredin during the week, with a feature being safe riding workshops at local primary schools. On Sunday 16 March, a family bike ride will be held at Apex Park and participants will receive a free sausage sizzle. |

A free morning tea for cyclists, organised by the Shire of Boddington, was held at the rotunda by the river. A total of 16 locals participated and the whole town had the chance to win some great raffle prizes.
Winners of the two main prizes were Leslie McPherson and Henry Hussey. |

The South Metropolitan Public Health Unit, in conjunction with local organisations and bike clubs, coordinated a range of highly successful cycling-related events during Bikeweek.
These included a BMX workshop that had more than 100 participants, two seniors rides with about 120 riders and a slow bike race with 55 competitors.
The program culminated with a Treasure Hunt Breakfast Ride, in conjunction with the Mandurah City Rotary Club, that attracted 150 participants. Special congratulations to Robyn Lister for organising such a diverse calendar of events in the Peel region. |

Midwest Corporate and Community Challenge |

Now in its fifth year, the Challenge involves corporate, community and secondary school teams competing to see who has the best average percentage of team members riding their bike over a four-week period. |

A 16km community ride commencing at the Shire of Moora and proceeding to Western Wildflower farm at Coomberdale was held with 16 riders taking part. A free morning tea was provided after the ride. |

Battle of the Pools Triathlon |

The Battle of the Pools was a triathlon run jointly by the Shire of Dowerin, Shire of Goomalling and the local Be Active office.
Starting at the Dowerin swimming complex, the event has held over a short course consisting of a 200m swim, 4km cycle and 1.5km run. A sprint course was also on offer, with a 400m swim, 8km cycle and 3km run.
A total of 50 competitors took part, ranging in age from 8 to 57 years. |

A trail ride headed up by bike leaders commenced at the Town Beach gazebo, travelled through the heritage precinct, and concluded at the jetty. A free healthy breakfast was then served to the 40 or more participants. |

A 13km community bike ride organised by the Shire of Kulin that commences at Freebairn Recreation Centre and concludes at the local swimming pool. The ride is suitable for all ages and will be followed by a free bbq brunch. All participants will receive a raffle ticket and will have the option of a using a shuttle bus back to town. |

A 10km community bike ride organised by the Shire of Katanning that commences and concludes at the Katanning Leisure Centre. The ride is suitable for all ages and there will be on route puzzles to solve. The ride will be followed by a free bbq lunch. |

An initiative by the Newdegate Gymnastics Club where during adult circuit classes, participants in a relay will be required to keep a stationary bike moving for a full hour. Classes conducted in Lake King, Hyden, Pingrup and Newdegate will compete against each other for prizes based on the most distance ridden. |

A community ride organised by the Albany Bicycle User’s Group that is now in its second year, commencing at Middleton Beach foreshore. The ride is based around a treasure hunt where teams use clues to find hidden items. Participants must cycle a certain route in order to answer all the clues. It is not a race, therefore lends itself to family groups and people of all cycling ability. |

A 6km family-orientated ride and scavenger hunt being organised by the Shire of Denmark. Commences at the recreation centre, the route proceeds down the Mokare Heritage Trail, taking in some wonderful views along the shoreline of Wilson Inlet. Riders conclude their journey in the townsite and can enjoy a free sausage sizzle. |

More than 50 people turned out to either ride or help with the family ride around a 2km circuit. Depending on their riding ability and endurance, participants were encouraged to complete as many laps as they could within the one-hour time limit. Chris Norwell was the overall winner, with ten laps completed, closely followed by his sister, Zoe, and friend Paul Beresford, who each completed nine laps.
Event organiser Nicole Dawson was very pleased with the turnout. “It was a great day and an opportunity for the whole family to get active together,” she said. |

Gibb River Road Challenge |

| The second annual Challenge involves teams of riders attempting to complete an 800km route along the Gibb River Road through the rugged Kimberley region. The ride commences in Derby and concludes in Kununurra. Proceeds from the event do to help Police Legacy and other charities. |
