Bikeweek brings plenty of smiles
The 23rd Cycle Instead Bikeweek is over and once again thousands of Western Australians have taken part in the celebrations.
Many thanks to all of the individual event coordinators throughout the State who helped to make it such a success.
Perhaps the happiest cyclist in WA is Jonathan Keefe of North Perth, who won the $2000 major prize in the Bikeweek West Australian liftout competition – an Avanti mountain bike from Fleet Cycles and a Magellan Triton 2000 handheld GPS unit from Next Destination.
The new bike and GPS unit came along at a particularly opportune time for the city-based human resources officer, because his old bike was in need of major repairs and his workplace recently installed bike-parking facilities.
Another five lucky people have a new bicycle thanks to Bikewest “Win A Bike A Day” competition in the West Australian.
The following people are now proud owners of a Giant Cypress – Paulette Moore, Jan Holmes, Gloria Norrish, Pam Finn and Ricci Van Herk.
Cycling is obviously becoming popular with the female population, because all five winners are women, and it was good to see that two were from country areas.
