Ride along the Sunset Coast: Ride 1 - Burns Beach to Mullaloo
Commence your ride or walk at the Jack Kikeros Community Hall that overlooks the Burns Beach car park, situated on the western end of Ocean Parade. Facilities nearby include public toilets and showers, public telephone, caravan park and a general store.
Travel south from the boardwalk on an excellent red-paved shared path that hugs the coast and includes numerous ocean views. After about one kilometre, the path is intersected by another red-paved path that heads up from the beach and east toward a nearby car park and housing estate. A shaded cabana and small grassed area can be found near this junction.
The main shared path continues south along the dunes and rugged limestone cliffs. Wire fencing has been erected either side of the path to prevent users from disturbing the fragile environment. However, several spots do allow riders and walkers access to the water’s edge.
Much of this coastline is rocky but there are a number of small, secluded sandy beaches nestled between the outcrops. This section of coast forms part of the conservation area known as Marmion Marine Park. |
