Ride along the Sunset Coast: Ride 4 -Trigg Island to City Beach
The shared path actually goes right past the ocean side of the Trigg Island Cafe and consists of paving bricks. Follow this paved path south past the surf lifesaving club and a surf shop. The pavers become a wide red-paved shared path and then changes to concrete after a few hundred metres.
Continue past a beachside kiosk where the path reverts back to red-paved. Follow it along South Trigg Beach as it heads up and along between West Coast Highway and the dunes. The shared path changes back to concrete and passes several walking tracks that lead down to Contacio Beach.
The shared path heads westwards away from the highway and becomes red-paved again. Beware of a steep descent to Scarborough Beach. At the bottom of the hill follow the path past some toilets and then along the beach front. The path travels directly in front of the luxurious Observation City complex with its high-rise five-star hotel, shops, restaurants and clubs. Cyclists should ride slowly in this area as pedestrian activity to and from the beach can be busy. |

Scarborough has something for everyone, from five star hotels to cosy cafes. |

Both cyclists and pedestrians will find PBN signage helpful. |
Continue on the shared path as it skirts the Scarborough Surf Lifesaving Club. A short hill climb takes you to a paved path that leads to less crowded Brighton Beach and facilities including a kiosk with toilets, some bbqs, picnic tables, drinking fountain and bike racks.
The red-paved shared path then climbs another steep hill and runs southwards alongside West Coast Highway where it becomes concrete. About 600 metres along, the path crosses a road leading to the Peasholm Street car park next to the beach.
From here the shared path becomes red-paved again and heads south in a long straight section. At the end of this stretch, take care crossing the entry road to Floreat Beach. About 200 metres south of this entrance, you have a choice of either going right and using Challenger Parade which leads directly to City Beach, or continuing on the red-paved path. The road can get very busy on weekends and the path is a safer option. |
