This grant will be used to develop a shared-use pathway plan for the Shire of York, as the current plan has not been significantly revised since it was first prepared in 1996. The plan itself did not cater for the strong population growth experienced in that period and the growing popularity of walking and cycling as a means of both commuting and recreation in that time. Council has $600,000 to spend on pathways over the next 10 years and therefore want to ensure that this money maximises the benefits to residents and tourists. |
