Grants under the State Government's Country Pathways Grant Scheme have been awarded for 2002-03 as follows:

Cable Beach

Shire of Broome - $50,000 towards the construction of a dual use path along Cable Beach Road East and Gubinge Road.
This will complete a six year project and provide the last link in the path that is used by tourists and residents.

Derby West Kimberley

Forrest Rd

Shire of Derby West Kimberley - $21,900 for a dual use path along Forrest Road in Fitzroy Crossing, improving access to the primary and secondary schools and the town's shopping and service areas.

Halls Creek

Bridge St, Hall St

Shire of Halls Creek - $24,000 for the construction of dual use paths along Bridge Street and Hall Street, providing improved and safer access to the local high school.

Tom Price -West Rd

Shire of Ashburton – a total of $38,000 for two dual use path projects in Tom Price.

Shire of Roebourne - $30,300 for a dual use path to link two residential streets Hyde Road and Dodd Court as part of the Shire's bikeplan.

North West Coastal Highway

$44,000 to extend the existing dual use off road path along Robinson Street and construct a similar path along North West Coastal Highway to improve the safety of cyclists, residents and people with disabilities accessing the area.

Exmouth

Ningaloo St and Ingleton St

$26,000 for new pathways in Ningaloo Street and Ingleton Street, providing improved access to schools, the shopping centre and other facilities for cyclists and pedestrians.

Shire of Cue - $50,000
This path connects the primary school and central business district.

Geraldton

Chapman Rd

In the City of Geraldton a grant of $35,000 will be used to construct a shared path along Chapman Road between Hosken Street and Crowtherton Street – the only section of this busy road without a path.

The path will improve access to a number of recreation facilities, the shopping centre and the Chapman River, and provide a safe route for children attending St Lawrence and Bluff Point Primary Schools.

Greenough 

Glenfield Beach Drive

Shire of Greenough - $12,995 to enable residents in Drummond Cove safe access to Seahaven.

Cedar Crescent

Also to provide a safe link to Strathalbyn College.

Mt Magnet

Naughton St

Shire of Mt Magnet - $15,150 to provide town access for local residents and residents of Hill 50 Accommodation.

Northhampton

Grey St

Projects to be undertaken in the Mid-West included the construction of a dual use path to improve access to the main thoroughfare of the busy tourist centre of Kalbarri.

The project, which has been allocated $50,000, will see a path built on the eastern side of Grey Street.

Shire of Brookton - $17,300 to improve the safety of cyclists and pedestrians on Brookton Highway.

Badgingarra

Shire of Badgingarra - $13,854 to provide a safe and easy access route for children and residents from the central recreation centre to the town entrance.

Dowerin

Memorial Ave, Government Rd, Stacy St

Shire of Dowerin - $26,717 to provide links from the north, centre and south of the residential areas to the main shopping centre.

Gingin

Seabird

Shire of Gingin - $24,573 will link the caravan park to town facilities.

Dardanup

Casuarina Drive

$26,400 to provide safe access to the Primary School.

Diadem St

The construction of a dual use path will give Eaton Primary School pathway access from all four boundaries.

Wagin

Wagin Townsite

Shire of Wagin - $49,077 to extend the dual use path commenced in 2001-02.

Wickepin

Shire of Wickepin - $6,718
Stage two of the Wickepin town site path.

Peel

Boddington

Hill St, Johnstone St

Shire of Boddington - $36,452 for improved access to the District Hospital and CBD, the Hotham River recreation area, the Town Hall and the Arts and Crafts Centre, and repairs.

Mandurah

Estuary

$40,000 - The largest of the projects in the Peel region will be undertaken by the City of Mandurah and will see the extension of the region's shared path network south along the Peel Harvey Estuary. The 1.2 kilometre extension of the path will provide a very scenic route south of Mandurah for cyclists, pedestrians and people with disabilities, and will represent a significant addition to the City's shared path network.

Murray

Marginata Park

Shire of Murray - $5,000 for improved access to Dwellingup's popular Information Centre and Forest Heritage Centre.

Waroona

Hawksley and Alexander Drive

Shire of Waroona - $11,442 for a path linking Hawksley and Alexander Drive residential areas with Waroona District High School and recreation and community facilities.

South West

Bunbury  

Knight Street

City of Bunbury - $134,975 for a new dual use path to Knight Street between Minninup Road and Parade Road.

Bussell Highway

Stage three of an ongoing Country Pathways program.

Picton Road

A major east-west link for cyclists along Picton Road.

Busselton  

Geographe Bay Road

Projects to be undertaken in the South West include a number of works in Busselton, with a total allocation to the Shire of $52,500.

The Shire of Busselton also received funding to construct a dual use path north along Geographe Bay Road in West Busselton. This will link the existing path completing a 10 kilometre cycleway from Port Geographe to Abbey.

Beach Rd to Bay View Cr and Finlayson St

Marybrook Drain Bridge

Works include the construction of a dual use path across Marybrook Drain on Caves Road.

The extension across the drain will greatly improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists who currently have to divert from the cycleway to cross on a bridge on busy Caves Road.

The project is part of the Shire of Busselton's plan to construct walk and ride trails from Busselton to Dunsborough.

Capel

Weld Rd, William St, Peppermint Grv Tce, Hastie Rd

Shire of Capel - $14,000 for improvements to dual use paths in Capel, Boyanup, Peppermint Grove and Gelorup.

Collie 

Prinsep Street

Shire of Collie - $54,700 to complete the pathway network along Prinsep Street and a missing link to Steere Street.

Steere Street

Donnybrook - Balingup

Capel St, Kirup

$11,555 to link residential areas to the Kirup primary school.

Manjimup

Kelly St

Shire of Manjimup - $17,850 to upgrade the footpath from Manjimup Senior High School to the south and west side of Manjimup.

Meerup St, Manjimup

Meerup Street is the main thoroughfare to the rear parking area of the Northcliffe District High School.

Robinson St, Pemberton

A link between the town, Pemberton District High School and other tourist sites.

Nannup

Kearney St

Shire of Nannup - $19,000 to link the town site and hospital.

Grange Rd

Grange Road will provide access to the bowling club, central business district and other facilities.

Great Southern

Denmark  

Mitchell St

Projects to be undertaken in the Great Southern include a number of works in Denmark, with a total allocation to the Shire of $62,500.

Ocean Beach Rd

As part of the works there will be an extension of the Ocean Beach Road dual use path starting at Cotswold Road and terminating at Minsterly Road, giving improved and safer access for a growing residential area.

Scotsdale Rd

The Shire has also received funding for the extension of the town's dual use path system along Scotsdale Road to improve the safety of people accessing another local school.

Jerramungup

Bremmer Bay

Shire of Jerramungup - $9,450 to cater for the vast number of cyclists, both local and tourists.

Katanning

Hassell St, Pemble St

Shire of Katanning - $27,600 to connect the centre of town to the leisure centre complex.

Tambellup

Howard St, Taylor St, George St

Shire of Tambellup - $15,000
Stage three of the Tambellup bike plan.

Woodanilling

Robinson Rd

Shire of Woodanilling - $16,800 to link east Woodanilling to the town centre.

Goldfields/Esperance

Coolgardie

Hunt St, Woodward St to Lions Lookout

Shire of Coolgardie - $50,000 to link the town centre with the hospital and medical centre.

Esperance 

John St

$16,300 for two projects that would further develop the town's already extensive network of shared pathways. One of the projects will see the partial reconstruction, widening and overlaying of the network along John Street between Springfield Street and Twilight Beach Road.

Wiseman St

The other project will see an additional link to the town's foreshore beach areas following the construction of a new path along Wiseman Street between Goldfields Road and Butler Street.

Kalgoorlie - Boulder

Bikeplan Promotion

$5,000 for bike plan information pamphlets and proposed bike path maps.
Resurfacing the Karlkurla bushlands park pathway.

Leonora

Gwalia

Shire of Leonora - $35,000 to link the townsites of Leonora and Gwalia.
