“On Your Bike” at Revolutions
Revolutions – the Transport Heritage Centre, at Whiteman Park, is hosting an intriguing exhibition of cycling history from Thursday 10 April to Sunday 8 June.
The exhibition, entitled “On Your Bike”, has been arranged with the assistance of the Historic Cycles Club of WA and features actual bicycles used around the State from 1890 to the 1960s, along with information about how they helped connect communities during that period.
The exhibition is open daily from 10am to 4pm.

Kwinana Freeway Principal Shared Path Upgrade - 12th May to 20th June 2008
Main Roads WA will be upgrading a section of the Kwinana Freeway Principal Shared Path (PSP) in Como.
This upgrade will consist of reconstructing and widening the section of PSP from 275m south of the Cale Street Footbridge to the Thelma Street Footbridge (a total length of approximately 1090m).
Work will commence on Monday 12 May 2008 and is expected to be completed by Friday 20 June 2008.
Due to the nature of the work, the PSP will be closed and replaced with the following detours:
- For the northern section of the works, cyclists and pedestrians will be detoured over the Cale Street Footbridge and Thelma Street Footbridge via Melville Parade. This detour will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week until the project is completed. It is recommended that cyclists dismount before crossing the footbridges, to minimise the risk of collisions with other cyclists and pedestrians.
- For the southern section (south of the Cale Street Footbridge), traffic controllers will assist PSP users through the works (a length of approximately 275m), but it will be reinstated to a state acceptable for traffic passing through the site when there is no work taking place.
Main Roads and its contractor are planning the works to ensure the disruption to PSP users is minimised, but some minor delays may occur and people should plan their journeys accordingly.
Cyclists and pedestrians are asked to obey all traffic controllers and signage on and around the site, and to take care when using the PSP and detours near the works.
Main Roads has apologised for the inconvenience the works will cause PSP users over the coming weeks.
BIKE4WORK
A workplace bike fleet is an exciting concept, where an organisation supplies staff with bikes for some of their work-related travel.
Bike fleets can be set up in most workplaces where staff are required to travel on-site, between worksites or within the local area. Setting up a workplace bike fleet requires commitment from management, support from staff and a small budget.
For further information on how bikes4work can help you set up a bike fleet in your workplace.

Temporary closure of the Principal Shared Path (PSP) in Baldivis
Southern Gateway Alliance (SGA) will temporarily close the Principal Shared Path (PSP) at the end of the Kwinana Freeway in Baldivis to allow for the construction of the Safety Bay Road interchange, as part of the New Perth Bunbury Highway (NPBH) project.
The north and southbound traffic lanes at the end of the Kwinana Freeway in Baldivis will be temporarily diverted to the west to allow for the construction of the Safety Bay Road interchange as part of the New Perth Bunbury Highway.
Subsequently, the temporary lanes will encroach onto the PSP and in order to ensure the safety of cyclists and pedestrians the path will be temporarily closed and users will be detoured around the work site.

Big response to airless tyre trial request
| Thanks to the many people who volunteered to participate in our trial of airless tyres in an off-road environment. We have selected two regular mountain bike trail riders to have a set of airless tyres fitted to their bicycle during our trial period. We will be publishing a full review of the trial results when they become available. |
