About Dr Enrique Peñalosa

Proudly sponsored by the Planning and Infrastructure Portfolio, and coordinated by the Planning and Transport Research Centre, you are invited to attend a lecture by Dr Enrique Peñalosa who is visiting Perth to lead discussions on alternative transport initiatives.

Through the framework of Network City, Perth aims to become world-class sustainable city, focussing on innovative practices in accessibility and placemaking.  Dr Peñalosa will share his experiences and learn about Perth's many initiatives to create a better future for all Western Australians.

As Mayor of Bogota, Colombia (1998-2001), Dr Enrique Peñalosa instituted a number of initiatives, including “Car-Free Days", which helped to change community attitudes to alternative transport.  Dr Peñalosa developed a model for urban improvement based on the belief that all people should have equal access to transportation, education and public spaces. This is a rare opportunity - so register now.
