Major reports
"Encouraging the Purchase of Safer Vehicles"
Main Project Report, Nov 2002. author: M Paine, Vehicle Design and Research Pty Ltd.
Commissioned by Department for Planning and Infrastructure.
Road safety research shows that there could be substantial benefits arising from encouraging the purchase of safer vehicles. To assist in the development of effective strategies three strands of research have been conducted: an analysis of the potential benefits and costs of more than 60 safety features that are available or under development; an analysis of impediments to the uptake of these safety features and an analysis of the trends with the crashworthiness of the West Australian light vehicle fleet. The analysis identified priority safety features that provide cost-effective reductions in serious injuries and fatalities in Western Australia.
"Stability and on-road performance of multi-combination vehicles with air suspension systems project"
The results of the research phase of this project provided a valuable insight into the behaviour of long multi-combination vehicles transporting high centre of gravity, heavy loads.
The Overarching report (Report No 4 below) provides a comprehensive summary of the entire project and is suited for the reader with a general interest in the subject. Readers with a more technical interest will need to access all reports for a more complete coverage of the work undertaken.
