  • Vehicle safety
    The Vehicle Safety Branch is responsible for setting vehicle standards and policy relating to vehicle safety and emissions. You can find out


    • what modifcations can be performed,
    • procedures to follow when building or modifying a vehicle,
    • information for people who wish to import vehicles and
    • information for people who wish to develop or manufacture vehicle accessories.

    There are also a large range of publications available for download.

  • Written off vehicle register
    While the majority of vehicle theft is opportunistic, the rebirthing of stolen vehicles by professional thieves is a significant problem that is estimated to cost the community about $75m per year.  You can find out how the register can help you when purchasing a second-hand vehicle here.

  • LPG conversions
    Any information concerning your eligibility for the LPG conversion grant, how much the grant is and how to apply can be found here.

  • Immobilisers
