Licence endorsements

F endorsements

If you hold this endorsement, you can drive buses and small charter vehicles for hire and reward purposes provided you hold the appropriate class of licence for the vehicle being driven. An F endorsement will NOT cover the driving and operation of taxi-cars.

T endorsements

If you hold this endorsement, you can drive taxi cars as well as buses and small charter vehicles for hire and reward purposes provided you hold the appropriate class of licence for the vehicle being driven.

Endorsement medical requirements

In order to gain either a F or T endorsement on your licence, you will to satisfy different criteria, one of these undertaking a medical.

Once you have gained an endorsement on your licence, if do not renew your medical as stipulated in the conditions of gaining endorsement, your endorsement will be automatically cancelled.

Recording of endorsements

Licence endorsements will be displayed on the reverse of your licence card and not as a class. A description of the types of vehicles that you will be authorised to drive will also be detailed on the reverse of the card.

Please note that an F or T endorsement is only required if the taxi-car or omnibus is being operated for hire and reward purposes. If the vehicle is not being driven for hire and reward, the driver is only required to hold the appropriate class of licence for that particular vehicle.

For example, a driver of a tourist coach having 3 axles and a GVM over 8 tonnes is only required to hold a Class-HR, provided it is not being used for hire and reward. However, if the vehicle is being used for charter or tour work the driver requires a class- HR licence, as well as an F endorsement.
