Western Australia is a vast State. It covers one-third of the Australian continent and, at 2.4 million square kilometres (one million square miles), is arguably the largest State in the world.
A key to the future development of the State's regional areas is improved integration of land use planning and transport systems to create more dynamic communities that sustain an enriched quality of life.
At the Department for Planning and Infrastructure we try hard to ensure that the half-a-million West Australians who live outside the Perth Metropolitan Region have ready access to our land use, transport and infrastructure services.
