Perth workplaces are encouraged to be TravelSmart. Taking part in TravelSmart Workplace offers a range of benefits for employers, employees and the community - from lower parking and fleet costs to healthier staff and less pollution.

TravelSmart Workplace reduces solo car trips by promoting travel alternatives through workplaces.  Read the TravelSmart Workplace brochure (pdf 400kb) or contact us to find out more about the program or register your workplace.

Who is involved?

Many workplaces are participating, including businesses, government agencies and local councils. They include the Department of Housing and Works, Landcorp and Woodside Energy. Your organisation could join in too!

TravelSmart Workplace is a joint initiative of the Department of Environment and Conservation and the Department for Planning and Infrastructure. It is part of the family of TravelSmart programs that promote travel behaviour change.

How it works

TravelSmart Workplace helps organisations manage trips they generate to reduce unnecessary car use and promote travel alternatives.

Plan for change

We help organisations develop and implement a Workplace travel plan tailored to their needs. The plan is a package of measures the employer or site manager implements to reduce car trips and improve alternatives for employees and visitors.  More on Workplace travel plans....

We can provide advice and tools to help workplaces:

  • survey staff on how they travel to and for work - use our online survey tool

  • audit barriers and opportunities for using travel alternatives

  • draft their own travel plan

  • put the plan into action
  • Raise staff awareness

We can offer TravelSmart guides and brochures for employees in participating workplaces or even develop a a workplace awareness campaign. Workplaces could hold a TravelSmart information stall, organise a talk on cycle commuting, involve staff in cycling or walking challenges and more.

    Network

Get together with people promoting sustainable travel choices in their workplaces through the TravelSmart Workplace Network. Quarterly forums with interesting speakers give you a chance to learn more. Our newsletter features stories on local workplaces and issues.
