Boost your health, save yourself money and help reduce pollution by choosing alternatives to commuting by car when you can.
Teleworking
Some trips can be avoided altogether by using the phone, fax or email. Try a phone or video conference if a face-to-face meeting is not necessary. Work from home one day a week to save travel and help balance work and family commitments. Read more on teleworking.
Walking
Could you walk part or all of the way to work? At a moderate pace you could walk about 1 km in 10 minutes and 3 km in half an hour. If you can walk to work, to a bus stop or train station or across town to a meeting, then better health and less traffic are within your reach. See the Walking to Work guide.
