Winning classes

Each year, classes that achieve outstanding reductions in car use and significant greenhouse gas savings are awarded a Magical Mystery Tour. Each class is supplied with tickets for a return journey using public transport. In 2007 the classes were also supplied with movie tickets. The classes then planned how to get to the movies using public transport. The magical mystery tour is both an incentive for classes to do well and a way of familiarising students with Perth’s public transport system, a key objective of the program.

Nine winning classes and two TravelSmart teams won a Magical Mystery Tour.

  • Regional Winner
Adam Road Primary School – Bunbury, Mixed classes.

  • South Perth Roadshow Winner
Rossmoyne Primary School - Year 5/6 reduced their one family car trips by 85% and saved 58 kilograms of greenhouse gas. They went from 114 car trips in their baseline week to only 18 car trips during the challenge week. Their biggest increases were in cycling and car pooling - well done!
