The Walk There Today Sponsorship Program provides volunteer groups, sporting / active transport organisations, Health Services and Local Government Authorities with opportunities to effectively plan, implement and evaluate community based events and programs that promote walking to replace short car trips.
The criteria have been developed to ensure sponsorships are allocated in a fair and equitable way. It is important you read through these criteria to ensure your group is eligible for sponsorship before applying.
Groups wishing to apply for sponsorship are encouraged to telephone the Walking Sponsorship Officer on 9216 8556 to discuss their applications.
What is the assessment process?
Every application received is assessed carefully before a decision on whether to provide sponsorship is made.
In summary this process is as follows:
We advise that we have received your application and supporting material.
We review your sponsorship application and ensure all required information has been provided.
Our Sponsorship Coordinator assesses your application. In the course of assessing your application the Sponsorship Officer may contact you to gain a better understanding of the background to your application.
Once your application has been assessed a recommendation is made to Management.
We advise you in writing of the outcome of your application.
When an organisation applies for sponsorship, the Chairperson or President (or, in the case of a Local Government Authority, the Chief Executive Officer) will be asked to sign a declaration form accepting certain conditions associated with receiving a sponsorship.
How long will it all take?
If you have provided all the necessary supporting material with your submission, you will hear whether your application has been successful within 2-6 weeks.
However, if your application is complex, does not fit readily into our existing sponsorship guidelines or has not been completed correctly, it may take longer to process.
Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. In exceptional cases where an early decision is urgently needed, we will try to respond quickly but we ask that in making an application you plan ahead to allow us time to assess your application.
Evaluation
Funds and merchandise are provided on the understanding that an event/project evaluation form (500kb pdf) will be completed and returned to the Department for Planning and Infrastructure’s Walking Unit, within 6 (six) weeks of the sponsored event/project being completed.
