Walk Week 2007
The Walk Week 2007 started on 5th November welcomed lovely weather that ranged between 28C to 33C throughout the week. Walk Week 2007, now in its 7th consecutive year, was another huge success. There were:
- 52 community walking events involving about 3000 participants;
- 164 schools with a total of 38000 kids walked to school on Wednesday School Walk There Today;
- 85 workplaces organized walks where 2500 employees took part;
- 47 articles on Walk Week were printed in various publications across WA including workplace newsletters, local newspapers, magazines, The West Australian and The Sunday Times;
- 35,000 walking guidebooks were printed and many were distributed at the libraries, displays at shopping centres and hospitals and other local community events; and
- 16 displays were held throughout metro Perth libraries, hospitals, leisure centres and shopping centres.
- 83 people from a range of professions (health, transport, urban planners) attended the Walking seminar titled “Showcase of Walking Initiatives” on Thursday 8 November. The Wanneroo Times published an editorial promoting the seminar.
